Sewell-Thomas Stadium

Sewell-Thomas Stadium provides the Crimson Tide baseball team with one of the finest ballparks in college baseball. It has a seating capacity of 6,571 and has concession stands as well as "hawker" stands to allow for concession sales in the grandstand. Season ticket sales continue to be at an all-time high and the Crimson Tide has set numerous single-game, series and single-season attendance records.

Sewell-Thomas Stadium opened in 1948 as the Thomas Field in honor of former football coach Frank Thomas and had seating for 2,000. In 1978, the facility was renamed Sewell-Thomas Field in honor of 1977 hall of famer and former UA baseball coach Joe Sewell. In 1991, a permanent grandstand was opened and the ballpark's name was changed from Sewell-Thomas Field to Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The stadium, known as “The Joe” by Alabama fans, saw an addition of seats, team locker rooms and a coach’s office, along with a press box elevator in 2001.
