The Child Development Research Center, built in 2005, is a state-of-the-art 64,000 square foot research facility equipped with the latest multi-media research technology, 7 large research suites, and 8 research rooms. The CDRC also has 10 children's classrooms, complete with research/observation booths and access to a playground.
The building is equipped with the latest in computer and audio-visual technology, allowing video to be recorded, sent to a master server and easily downloaded for coding. Web cameras are installed with the capacity for parents to log on and view their child’s activity throughout the day.
The CDRC houses the Children′s Program, an NAEYC accredited laboratory school enrolling approximately 120 students ages two months to five years, and Child Development Resources, which assists families across the state of Alabama to provide a safe, loving, and enriching life for their young children.
The Capstone Family Therapy Clinic, which provides the community with help in resolving personal problems and trains graduate students specializing in marriage and family therapy, and the Pediatric Development Research laboratory are also located within the building.
