Built in 1971, the Biology Building is a large circular building that houses the Department of Biological Sciences.
The building has an auditorium built on to the right along with lecture rooms, classrooms, and labs on the first floor. Also located on the first floor are the green house, animal house, and the aquatic insect collection. The second floor contains labs, offices, the herbarium, and the vertebrate museum. A break room with vending machines is also available on this floor.
In 1968 President Rose announced that a new biology building would be built. The plans called for a circular building instead of the conventional block shape in order to be more efficient. Upon completion the Biology Department moved in and though the main biology offices moved to the new Science and Engineering Building in 2009, the department still uses the building as its main residence.
